CAHF Team Updates: Change is in the Air

Fall has begun, and cooler air and falling leaves are letting us know that the seasons are changing. There are some changes happening here at CAHF as well, and we want to share them with you.

Three Founding Board Members Move to Advisory Roles

We want to take this opportunity to say a huge and heartfelt thanks to Don Peard, Rob Easson, and Cindy Rutherford who as of September have stepped down from CAHF’s Board of Directors. Fortunately, these three founding board members haven’t gone far – they have transitioned to an arm’s length advisory council where we can call on them for advice when we need it.

We are so grateful to Don, Rob, and Cindy for their invaluable contributions during our first two years of operation. They have provided countless hours of thought leadership and played a key role in developing our plan to move the foundation forward. We would not be where we are today without them.

Transitioning to a permanent team

As we move towards building a permanent team and recruiting a CEO to lead CAHF operations, we are saying thank you and farewell to our interim CEO Jolene Livingston.

Jolene has been working with us since November of 2020. She, along with her team at Bespoke Social Profit Solutions, has played a major role in establishing our foundation’s direction, attracting donor and funder interest, engaging community stakeholders and building our board of directors. Jolene has also actively assisted us to enhance our relationship with representatives from the Federal, Provincial and Municipal governments. We thank her wholeheartedly for her visionary leadership and the work that she has done to bring CAHF to where we are today.

Along with our goodbyes, we’ve got some hellos, too! We are thrilled to welcome two new members to the CAHF board.

Kassy Corothers is a Senior Associate at Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP. She practises corporate and securities law, with an emphasis on public and private mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance.

Christie Simpson is Vice President, ATCO Land and Development & Corporate Real Estate. Trained as a Landscape Architect, Christie transitioned her love of planning and design into a career in commercial real estate more than 15 years ago, and has since gained experience in corporate strategy, operations, leadership and more.

It was always our intention to move from a board of founders to a board that is representative of CAHF’s mandate, and both Kassy and Christie bring skills that are key to taking CAHF to the next level. Thanks to both for offering their time and talents to move our mission forward!

Building a board that includes people with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and skillsets is a major priority for us moving forward. We’re excited about the team we’re building, and there will be more announcements to come. Be sure to follow us on LinkedIn for the latest CAHF board and staff updates!
